Group Details For Chess

Fancy a game of skill and guile? Come and join us for a relaxed game of chess. We do not have a league, we just play with whoever walks in. Members have a broad spectrum of skill levels, including beginner.

The Chess group meet at Copeland Every Monday (excluding Bank Holidays) from 1:30 to 3:30.

We do not generally teach chess, but this is a group of very mixed abilities and gender. If you know the basics, the more experienced players will sometimes be heard saying their opponent “Are you sure that is what you want to do?”

No one is too serious. If you have ever played Chess, you know that one wrong move can spell disaster. In this company, the chances are that your opponent will make a miss judged move the very next go so usually evens out. We play just for fun and keep the grey cells active.

We have a subscription of £20 to £25 per term depending on the number of members we have. New group members do get a reduction if joining during the term.
