Group Details For Transport Studies

Group Description :

Transport Studies

The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 14.00 until 16.00 at the Peterborough & District Bowls Centre, 19 Burton Street, Peterborough PE1 5HA.

We discuss a range of past, present and future transport systems, mainly in the UK, but in a few other parts of the world too. Following the National Transport Trust guidelines, we consider topics related to aviation, railways, boats and ships (including warships), commercial vehicles, cars, buses, trams, traction engines and even hovercraft.

All who wish to join the group must be Peterborough U3A Members, but to pay for the room and any speakers expenses there is a group sub of £15 to £20 per term, depending on the number of meetings.

All being well, some form of trip is planned (assisted by the Day Visits group) in the course of the year, for which members are given priority, though they are open to all members of Peterborough U3A.
