Group Details For Transport Studies

Group Description :

Transport Studies

This new group (a combination of two previous groups viz. Plane Daft and Railways Studies Groups) will commence at 14.00 on 10 September 2024 continuing until and including May 2025, at the Peterborough & District Bowling Club PE1 5HA.

Transport Studies will comprise a range of past, present and future transport systems, mainly in the UK, but in a few other parts of the world too. Following the National Transport Trust guidelines, we will consider topics related to: aviation; railways; boats and ships (including warships); commercial vehicles; cars; buses, trams: traction engines and even hovercraft.

All who wish to join the group must be Peterborough U3A Members, but to pay for the room and any speakers expenses there will a group sub of £20 per term (maximum - but will be reviewed). The exact amount will be publicised on the Group website.

All being well, some form of trip will be planned (assisted by the Day Visits group) in the course of the year, for which members will be given priority, though they will be open to all members of Peterborough U3A.
