In general, we cover English poets from Elizabethan to modern poets. Whether you like restoration poets, modernists or romantics we find time to cover the vast spread of poetry that has been handed onto us down the centuries. We also 'distract’ ourselves with other forms such as Haiku, Beowulf, poetic forms and more. Currently we are looking at poetic forms and have been studying the Ode form Sapphice Pindaric and Horation. Horace was a lively Roman poet and was a favourite with some of the restoration poets especially Robert Herrick and his theme of 'carpe diem' which Horace introduced in his poetry.
