Peterborough U3A Outings, Holiday and Theatre trip Groups have to administer quite large sums of money and many members to make things run smoothly for your pleasure. 

We would ask that all members intending to book one of these types of activities read the relevant section of this page and abide by the instructions to avoid disappointment if the process is not followed, and also help the group leaders in the admin.

BOOKING A DAY TRIP

 

DAY TRIPS 2020

Please read this carefully if you intend to book for any day visit.

Any member of the U3A can book a day visit that is advertised in the magazine or on the website.  Only members of the U3A (any branch) can book a day trip.  It is best to book as early as possible if you want to be sure of a seat for a particular visit.  The Group Co-ordinators are happy to deal with any general queries but all booking enquiries should only be made to Gina Bates.

The booking procedure is as follows:  Book with Gina by phone and then send the booking form (available with all Newsletters and on the website) and a cheque within 7 days (made out to Peterborough U3A) to Peterborough U3A and send to Mrs Gina Bates.  Please enclose a stamped addressed envelope if you want a receipt.

PLEASE NOTE:  The booking forms have been redesigned in order to provide additional, necessary information for the smooth operation of the trips, especially mobile phone numbers (information which will be destroyed after the trip) and special requests, with the reasons. Please dispose of any old booking forms and only use the new ones.

(Following the massive increase in bank charges, the Treasurer has asked that we do not cash the cheques until the trip becomes viable or the deadline has passed in order to mitigate the bank costs in the event of a trip cancellation.)  Also to make refunds easier, please can you make separate cheques for each excursion.

If the excursion is fully booked, it is a good idea to put your name on a waiting list as you may be able to replace someone who drops out.  Also if the waiting list becomes very long, we will look at booking a second coach, or run another trip, but not necessarily on the same day.

The pick-up and drop off places will be the Crab and Winkle, Werrington, the Bretton Centre bus stop and Thorpe Meadows (£2.50 parking charge). It would be in your interest to check the parking arrangements at each of these venues prior to your trip as it is possible things could change as to availability and prices.  We do not wait for late comers so it is your responsibility to be at the pick-up place in good time. For 2020, we will be using a variety of coach companies.

Refunds will not normally be made after the booking deadline.  If you cancel your booking we will try to resell your place, although you will have to pay the costs of this, usually about £2.00.  If there are spare seats after the deadline, we will usually accept bookings.  In the event that not enough people book for an excursion, it will be cancelled once the booking deadline has passed so it is very important that you register your interest as early as possible.

BOOKING A HOLIDAY WITH THE TRAVEL GROUP

NB All bookings are first come first served and can only be made at the Travel Group meetings held at Jack Hunt School (go to their group page for dates.

 

Interest/Waiting Lists

An expression of interest, whether made via an interest sheet at the Jack Hunt Meetings or by Clicking "Apply to Join Group" on the Holiday web page does not confer any priority.  You have to attend a Travel Group Meeting at Jack Hunt School and actually pay a deposit - we recommend if you apply online then you attend the next meeting to pay the deposit.

If you cannot attend a Travel Club meeting to book a place and pay the deposit, please ask a friend to do it for you.

BOOKING A THEATRE TRIP

 

Theatre Group Page

 When a new show is available for booking, the Group Listing is updated and will go live on Tuesday afternoons at about 4.00pm.
If you have joined with the "Theatre Group" you will also receive an email giving details of the new trip and booking details are provided to the Group members with each  release notification

DO NOT rely on applying to join the actual trip group from the group listing page. That will not book your place.
